Namibia’s Andrada Raises Uis Tin Production 13% Ahead of Upgrade
Andrada Raises Uis Tin Production 13% to 576 Tonnes as Namibia Mine Advances N$98 Million Upgrade
Andrada Mining increased contained tin production at its Uis mine in Namibia by 13% year-on-year in the first half of its 2027 financial year, supported by higher feed grades and improved plant performance.
Contained tin production reached 576 tonnes in the six months ended August 31, 2026, compared with 511 tonnes in the same period last year. Tin concentrate production rose 11% to 955 tonnes, while shipments increased from 25 to 36.
The average feed grade increased 9% to 0.149% tin, while the plant processing rate rose 7% to 153 tonnes per hour. Ore processed increased 2% to 538,810 tonnes.
Andrada has secured N$98 million from Bank Windhoek and the Development Bank of Namibia to fund upgrades at Uis, including a new crushing and ore-sorting circuit. Implementation has started, with long-lead equipment already ordered.
The ore-sorting circuit will remove lower-grade material before downstream processing, allowing higher-grade ore to be fed into the plant. Andrada expects the upgrade to increase annual tin concentrate production by 50% to 70%, reaching about 2,500 to 3,000 tonnes, equivalent to 1,500 to 1,900 tonnes of contained tin.
The company said the higher production could also reduce the applicable royalty rate and support stronger operating margins and cash generation.
Andrada CEO Anthony Viljoen said the first-half performance demonstrated the benefits of operational improvements already implemented at Uis and provided a stronger base for the next phase of growth.
Plant availability averaged 91% during the period, while recovery improved from 71% to 73%. Andrada will continue installing the crushing and ore-sorting circuits during the second half of the financial year.
