Zoomlion Expands Mining Machinery Portfolio and International Operations
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (Zoomlion) is accelerating the development of its mining machinery portfolio while expanding its international operations, supported by growing demand for advanced, electrified and automated equipment.
In the first half of 2026, revenue from the company’s mining machinery business increased by more than 57.20% year on year. International revenue also grew by 12.45% to RMB 15.535 billion, accounting for 57.25% of total revenue.
The company continues to develop its construction, agricultural and mining equipment businesses across global markets. Its mining machinery portfolio covers excavation, loading, transportation, crushing and screening, targeting a broad range of operational requirements.
Key products include the ZE4000G, a 400-tonne-class mining excavator, and the ZTE520 hybrid electric-drive mining truck, which has a rated payload of 300 tonnes.
Decades of Mining Engineering Experience
Zoomlion’s mining engineering heritage dates back several decades. In 1987, its predecessor, the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute, received a State Council award for developing an integrated open-pit mining system with an annual handling capacity of 10 million tonnes.
The company attributes its recent mining machinery growth to continued investment in product development, field testing and technological innovation, with a focus on reducing operating costs and improving equipment performance.
Zoomlion’s engineering teams work directly with mining operations to identify operational challenges and incorporate customer feedback into product development. During a previously reported six-month period, its research teams visited approximately 150 mines worldwide and identified and resolved more than 50 technical challenges.
This field-based approach is intended to help ensure that equipment meets the practical requirements of demanding mining environments.
“We calculate operating costs across the full equipment lifecycle so customers can see the economic benefit,” said Wu Yuanfeng, deputy general manager of Zoomlion Mining Machinery.
“Our pure-electric products can cut costs by more than 50%, and hybrid models can improve profitability by 15% or more, helping mines move toward more efficient, higher-quality operations.”
Electrification and Automation Drive Efficiency
Electrification is a central element of Zoomlion’s mining equipment strategy. According to the company, its hybrid mining trucks can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40%, while its 100-tonne-class battery-electric trucks have accumulated more than 8,000 hours of stable operation.
The ZT160HEV hybrid mining truck can also support up to 18 hours of continuous autonomous operation, combining electrified propulsion with automated operating capabilities.
Alongside its electric machinery, Zoomlion is advancing autonomous haulage, remotely operated excavators and fleet coordination systems to improve productivity and operational control.
At a major open-pit metal mine in northern China, the company reports that implementing its fleet management system increased the average number of daily trips per truck by more than 10%.
These developments reflect the growing role of electrification, automation and digital fleet management in helping mining operators improve equipment utilisation, manage energy consumption and reduce operating costs.
Expanding Mining Equipment Across International Markets
Zoomlion’s mining machinery business is gaining a presence in several international markets. The company has supplied electrified equipment to coal mines in Indonesia, open-pit mining operations in Argentina and projects in Ecuador and various African countries.
Its broader international business also recorded strong results during the first half of 2026, generating RMB 15.535 billion in revenue, up 12.45% year on year. Overseas operations accounted for 57.25% of total revenue, an increase of 1.67 percentage points compared with the same period in 2025.
Growth in South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa and East Asia exceeded the company’s overall international growth rate, highlighting the breadth of its overseas expansion.
Strengthening Global Manufacturing and After-Sales Support
To support its international growth, Zoomlion is investing in localised manufacturing, distribution networks and after-sales services.
As of 30 June 2026, the company had established more than 30 primary business hubs, over 530 secondary and tertiary outlets, and more than 300 spare parts warehouses worldwide.
Its aerial work platform factory in Hungary had commenced production, while its German facility had undergone expansion and upgrades to serve as a multipurpose operational hub.
These investments are designed to strengthen customer support, improve parts availability and bring the company’s manufacturing and service capabilities closer to international markets.
“Our overseas front-line operations and back-office teams are now digitally connected, enabling seamless 24-hour coordination,” said Liu Jianqiang, Zoomlion’s marketing director and deputy general manager of its overseas business.
Mining Machinery Growth Supports Global Expansion
Zoomlion’s expanding mining machinery portfolio and international operations are contributing to the diversification of its revenue base.
With mining machinery revenue growth exceeding 57.20% in the first half of 2026, the company is continuing to invest in equipment development, electrification, automation and digital technologies.
Combined with its expanding manufacturing, distribution and after-sales infrastructure, these initiatives are positioning Zoomlion to pursue further opportunities in the global mining equipment market.
